Jahnavi Inniss (pronounced jarn-avee)
I’m an award-winning quiltmaker and workshop facilitator who deeply engages with archive and museum collections to explore untold stories within Black British history. Through my adaptation of the culturally rich medium of quilting, I document history through a critical lens, challenging distorted historical narratives and transforming complex research into visually impactful quilts.
As a workshop facilitator, I’ve facilitated artistic workshops for a number of organisations including Kew Gardens, National Maritime Museum, the Crafts Council and the Fitzwilliam Museum. My workshops engage participants with the cultural history and legacy of quiltmaking, encouraging participants to celebrate, re-frame and document our collective and personal histories.
